10k rpm desktop user

Strengths: fast, relatively quiet

Weakness: only 150gb, but performance makes up for storage

This drive is significantly faster than 7200rpm drives, even the seagate perpendicular recording drives. The raptor is also not loud, especially when properly installed and the case is closed. I'm very happy with it.

Raptor 150X

Strengths: Speed, reliability, warranty

Weakness: none

This drive is fast, fast, fast. I have a 74 GB model and the 150 16MB cache is a bit faster. If you have a windowed case the clear top is coooooool. The five year warranty make the price of Raptor drives a no brain-er. According to Tom's Hardware, "the most reliable drive out there." Essentially made for servers. BestBuy had a killer price on these, but a limited number.

Raptor X 150GB Hard drive

Strengths: Very very fast - 10,000 RPM/Buffer Size 16 MB/Average Latency 2.99 ms. Good idea in having the clear glass. Manufacturer's 5 year Limited Warranty

Weakness: You can't see through the clear glass because the hard drive is inside your computer (to work you would have to mount it outside. Noisy sometimes (because the clear glass).

I have 3 of them RAID 0. It gives me 5.9 on Vista index.
Worth the money. However, you should buy the one without the clear glass (WD1500ADFD) because it is cheaper and doesn't create as much noise. My friend has the other without the clear glass and it is quieter.

Affordable Enterprise Performance

Strengths: See thru design, FAST, FAST and did I say fast?

Weakness: It get's hot, Somewhat expensive in terms of capacity compare to new drives today.

1st time it came out it cost $300 plus. I got this from Best Buy for $150 bucks. So it works for me like $1/gig. Games loading time and windows XP boot-up/Power down significantly improved. I already purchased this when this model from the same manufacturer came out, "WD7500AAKS." If you look at the review between this two model on the internet, they are neck and neck and sometime WD7500AAKS even...

WD1500AHFDRTL Raptor X

Strengths: SPEEEEEEEED!

Weakness: NONE

Fast!!! Wow this drive is super fast for editing video - rendering time. After using this I'll never turn back. Super easy setup - legible - Definitely worth the extra buck! As for mine is quite - but it could be my Shark case.
