Strengths: unit works as advertised
Weakness: cannot mount it on a shoe mount bracket. Nikon does not make a screw to shoe converter.
I will probably have to return the Nikon SC29 as all my hand held brackets only have shoe mounts. I really think that this is a very important point to inform the customer. If you want to use it off camera you have to use a tripod or hold it by hand

Shoe Poorly Made
After 3 months on a bracket, the shoe that now holds the SB-800 flash has become so unstable that the connection is not continuously maintained. I suspect it will totally fail soon.
