Kodak EasyShare P712 7.1 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Kodak P712

Strengths: This is my first Digital Camera. I have found the Zoom to be all that I was looking for in my first camera. People have been amazed at my Moon shots for distance.

Weakness: Buttons too close together. Not much room to hold camera without tripod for tricky shots. I do not have a tripod at this point. But I'm still very new at this.

I personally have recommended it to others who drool at the zoom capability along with the Macro features. My photos: CharleySunshine@webshots demonstrate the zoom and Macro shots. I feel that I got what I wanted without having to carry extra lenses etc.

Strengths: THE CAMERA WORKS BEAUTIFULLY. OUT OF THE BOX, WITHOUT READING THE BOOK, I WENT TO A PARTY AND GOT 85 GOOD, IN FOCUS AND PROPERLY EXPOSED PICTURES.

Weakness: SHUTER LAG IS TOO LONG. IT FEELS LIKE AN OLD SLR. THE DOOR FOR THE SHARE AND EXTERNAL POWER IS FLIMSEY

THE ADVANCED WORKINGS WILL TAKE SOME WORK FOR ME BUT IT SHOULD WORK OUT FINE. KODAK IS VERY GOOD ABOUT ANSWERING QUESTIONS ON LINE. IT IS AIMED AT AMATEURS. IT DOES VERY LITTLE PHOTO CORRECTION AND MUCH SELLING OF KODAK BUT THE EASYSHARE PART IS SIMPLE AND GOOD.EMAILS ARE EASY TO DO BECAUSE THERE IS A "FIND THE PHOTO" BUTTON

P712 - Shutter Problems

Strengths: Photos were nice and clear - zoom nice.

Weakness: Shutter won't open / operate after only 11 months use.

I'm very disappointed that a camera this new would tear up before the warranty (a year) is up. I have even had great difficulty locating information on the Kodak site on returning - like where to return, and what kind of timing to expect. I have a trip out of the country soon, and am disappointed I couldn't count on a Kodak camera. A camera shop I visited told me they don't even carry Kodak any...
